Georgia and the Disney Princesses

What can I say? I'm a sucker for advertising. And guilt works really well on me. When I was in the hospital with Sophie, away from Georgia for so many days, we watched a lot of TV and saw commercials for Disney Princesses on Ice. So yes, I bought two tickets. There was a pre-show dress display.

Here is Georgia trying to get Tiana's attention. It was too precious for words.

She held up her princess purse as if to say, "Look! I have you on my purse!"

She chose to dress like Jasmine...which is interesting when you hear what happened later.

So I got really good tickets. I mean really good tickets. Of course this was a complete misread of my situation. I was taking a 3-year-old to a basketball arena to watch a Disney show, from the fourth row: STUPID MISCALCULATION. Here we are before the noise and the smoke machine started.

Then Tinkerbell came out and the music launched, then the set flew up in the air and G totally lost it.

Even an introduction by Mickey and Minnie didn't calm her down.

The first vignette was about Jasmine and we didn't even get to stay long enough actually see Jasmine herself.

Very soon she told me to get her out of there. She pointed to the exit and said, "I NEED GO UPSTAIRS!" Once we were outside and calmed down, she decided maybe she did want one of the shaved ice things inside a character cup. Shockingly she chose the Flounder cup ($10) instead of the Tinkerbell ($16) or Cinderella ($18). She went against type and I love her for that.

When we went back inside we smartly chose a set up high, right by the exit. Georgia enjoyed the Sebastian spoon that came with her cup.

Trying for that smile

We have been working on getting that smile in a photo. Daddy thinks it's so elusive because the flash on the camera ruins the photos...I think Sophie is just judicious with her smiling.

Oh her skin just looks so, so, so new. The comparison is not kind.

Here we are experimenting with camera settings.

A little sleeping video...

They really were sleeping when I took this photo. I woke them up, of course.

Sophia at 8 weeks

She's big! Unfortunately not as big as Georgia would like (she asks me everyday when she gets home, "Is Sophie big?"). But we're celebrating anyway because at today's two month appointment, we learned that Sopharino weighs 12 lbs 4 oz! She's 23 inches long. This makes her in the 90th percentile for weight and 75th for length. Her head is 15 1/8 inches - putting her at the 50th percentile there - proving that while she knows how great she is, she's not getting a big head about it.

Warm Weather

Georgia had no ill-effects from the tubes, so by Friday morning we all were ready to get out of the house. Luckily it was a freakishly warm day, so we gathered up Sophie and went to the park.

Georgia had to wear her belly-dancing scarf on the bike, of course.

Sophie observed from the sidelines.

She has her purse and a radio remote control. Don't ask me why.

Um, can you tell that the three of them are related?

Nana and Papa Meet Sophie

They came for a very quick trip so as to help us with Georgia's tubes. We were thrilled to have them here! Sophie was on her best behavior.

Nana and Papa came bearing gifts (so many gifts, G keeps telling me she wants to go to their house) including two wonderful dinners.

It's very nice not to have to cook for yourself.

Lounging around, everyone in their own chair.

Georgia and the ENT

After too many ear infections to keep count, we finally bit the bullet and had tubes put in G's ears this morning. We snatched her from her bed bright and early (she was mainly convinced to go with us specifically because she got to wear her pajamas outside) and went to see Dr. Williams, aka G's doctor boyfriend. She LOVES him. Really. We talk about him a lot. It's kind of strange. He's nice and all, but she really, really loves this guy.

She brought her kissing Mickey and Minnie mice to the event (along with Jasmine, Knuffle Bunny, Michael Bear, two books, a magazine and her fire engine - you need a lot of things to go to the hospital). Thankfully Nana and Papa are here (more on that later) and were watching Sophie, so we both got to be there. It was helpful, since we had to stop at the grocery on the way home to buy all the things the doctors only told about us this morning: popsicles, jello, pudding, juice boxes. G is having the heavily-sugared time of her life.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Georgia thinks the whole month of February revolves around her. It kind of does. Here's her exploration of the V-Day box from Grandma and Grandpa.

She also enjoys the perk of being able to open all of Sophie's toys.

Aunt Doris sent stickers and G made a collage immediately.

Later, Daddy "flew" Georgia upstairs for bath, one of the only ways we can trick her into starting the nighttime routine.
