Georgia's "iPhone"

This is G, talking to the Siri in her homemade "iPhone." You can see the ear bud hanging down. If she was five or six years older, this would be an incredibly manipulative hint about what she wants for Christmas. Right now, at 5 years old, this is just too cute for words.

Artistic genius

Due to her furlough, Sophie and I had a date at a toddlers art class today.

Mia invited us, so the BFFs were reunited after only a few days apart.

She really got into the whole thing.

We will definitely be returning to this class!

The Winner

Hands down, this is the best excuse for not walking across the room to put your dirty clothes in the basket.

Georgia: Mommy! The carpet's made of hot lava!

Back to school night

Home from back-to-school night with a story I won't share with G until she's a lot older.

A new classmate's mom told me her daughter came home wide-eyed after meeting Georgia on the first day of school, saying, "Mommy! Sleeping Beauty is in my class!'"

Here's what you missed by not joining us for dinner tonight. Too bad for you.

Crickets Day #1: Update #2

From the incident report:

Sophie and her friend were trying to occupy the same spot inside one of the red tunnels on the playground. When Sophie did not get to sit in the area she wanted, she was very sad. She leaned over and bit her friend on the tummy. Sophie and I talked about how teeth are not for biting. Sophie offered her friend a kind hug!
When I asked her about the incident at dinner, Sophie was mum. Hopefully, there will be no more to this story.

Crickets Day #1: Update

From daddy:

Just got a call that Sophie bit one of her friends in school today.  We'll get an incident report but nothing to sign, no real injury and no big deal.  The teachers know Sophie has never been a biter and thought it was just the transition into the new classroom.

So, hmm. Not sure about how well we are liking Crickets so far...

Crickets

Our little Sophie bear is going to be a cricket today! She said she wanted oatmeal with raisins ON TOP. The breakfast of a big girl!

Three Bug Bites

We all know she's sweet, we just didn't know that the spiders/mosquitos/mothmen know it as well. She went to bed Sunday with a little puffiness and woke up Monday looking like she'd been in a fight.

The lower lip was her idea.
She does know when to turn on the charm!

Sophie Update

A few things about our 2.5-year-old:

Sophie loves bananas. The whole thing. She calls it "BIG BANANA!" And she wants to eat it "MICE ELF!"

Sophie is not potty trained. Enough said.

Sophie can eat an entire bowl of kale chips without looking up.

Sophie is going to be a "Cricket" when she graduates from the Twos room at school in September.

Sophie always sits on the teacher's lap. Any photo they send us - and they send them every single day (so they're more dedicated than your blogger, here, but they are being paid...) - has Sophie on a grownup's lap. She's just more comfortable there.

Sophie has a little rubber lizard that she has carried around all week and refers to it as "my frog." Don't try and tell her any different.

Sophie still sucks her thumb and it is so incredibly cute. Remind me I said this in three years when we're begging her to stop.

Sophie is a sweet, sweet girl, who still wants to eat her dinner while sitting in my lap. Unless we are having soup, I usually say yes.

LilyS & G

These lovelies are still great pals after all these years. Today they opened their "bakery" at LilyS' house. Their gimmick is that if you are late to pick up your cake, they smash it on your head. It's quite a policy, likely to generate some buzz, for sure.

Georgia's latest stalling technique

Before bed: "Why do I not have a brother?"

Sigh. This could take all night.

New dresses

Here they are, setting trends and stealing hearts. The headbands were G's idea.

Pregame Sophie

This little one was so please to get to go to her first baseball game date with daddy! She knew this proves she's a special special girl.

Pigtails

She's pretty happy with them. She asks me for "two in da front, pease, mommy!"

George Washington's Bathtub

A quick stop in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Georgia was not impressed with George Washington's bathtub. "It's kind of dirty."

At the ballet

They make you keep a reasonable distance from the "stage" during their shows.

Farmer's market

While we wait for Georgia to be done at ballet, Sophie gets cherries. Perfect deal.

How she sees it

Georgia, in the car going to camp:

"Here's what I know about my family. Grandma knows how to sew and Grandpa knows how to do magic tricks and Papa knows how to build and Nana knows how to teach, but she stopped when she decided to become a Nana.

Galvanized "boat"

Afraid of the noise from mommy's smoothie machine, the girls retreat to the bathroom in their "boat." This is the kind of morning when it's going to be very difficult to get them dressed for their separate schools. Georgia loves playing with her Sophie.

Update: Potty Training 2.0

Um, you are surprised that we have an update on this topic?

So am I.

But Miss Reeves (Sophie's teacher) wants what she wants when she wants it. And she wanted Sophie in underwear today. Despite my best whining to the contrary, daddy took the appropriate supplies to school this morning and Sophie came home in the same clothes she was wearing when she left. So I guess the potty training train is out of the station.

I'm looking forward to Friday-Saturday-Sunday, when Miss Reeves will certainly be moving in with us to ensure that this train keeps moving. Miss Reeves? Miss Reeves? Can we pick you up at the Metro or will you be driving yourself here?

And here's a totally unrelated photo of Soph being supa cute and wanting to do it MICE-ELF. Soldier on, sister.

Saturday morning donuts

Lucky girls.

Mommy is not partaking, mainly because she was nearly passed on the track yesterday by a woman walking while eating a sandwich. True story.

Backyard games

While the big boys are away at baseball practice...the littles are collecting grass for soup in the backyard.
