This is a very typical Georgia moment. Much of a mess was made, for the soul purpose of importing her favorite things from one part of the house to the other.

Not sure why she won't play with these things in their regular location, but she had a great time.

Ever since Sophie started crawling on Tuesday, Georgia has been quite protective of "her" toys. When G's away (at school), Soph and mommy will play!

Sensational Sophie

From Miss Toccara's recent reports:

"Sophie was so happy to be at school this morning and see all her friends. She was scooting across the floor and just having a good time. Me and Sophie had our one-on-one girl time where we played with the baby dolls. Sophie needs extra clothes, had an explosion (11/8/11)."

"During circle time Sophie was clapping her hands and tryin to sing along to the song (11/3/11)."

"Today Sophie did an activity using yellow paint. She had fun exploring the texture of the paint with her fingers (11/2/11)."

"It's picture day [ed note: this was news to us!]! Sophie did really well during her pictures. She gave some very nice smiles. She also went on a buggie ride with all her friends and enjoyed the cool breeze and sun (11/11)."
"She was playing peek-a-boo with the big soft blocks and just sharing a laugh with her friends. During her buggie ride she had the chance to see the horses downtown (11/11)."

"I'm still working with Sophie on crawling, but in due time she will get it. Sophie really enjoyed lunch so much - she had thirds (10/26/11)."
"Sophie had a great morning, a little fussy during drop off only because it was mom this morning. She had a wonderful long nap this morning and a nice buggie ride this afternoon (10/28/11).

Progress Report: Georgia

From Miss Jones:

Georgia has shown significant growth since she has been in Pre-school. Initially, Georgia was having trouble using nice hands. Now, she uses nice hands and reminds others that they need to use nice hands as well. Georgia's fine and gross motor skills are developing nicely. She is very persistent and works on an activity until she is successful. Georgia recognizes many of the letters in the alphabet and those in her own name. We are working on recognizing and identifying letter sounds. We will continue to work with Georgia on writing the letters in her name. At home, you can work with Georgia on identifying and recognizing some letter sounds and writing the letters in her name. Georgia is very helpful and enjoys responsibility.

What's About to Happen Here...

Hold onto you're hats, it's about to get pretty wild over here. We've been completely lax in our blogging the last few months. My excuse is that we all got sick on vacation and there has been just a lot of recovery stuff mixed with other deadlines ever since. Not a great set of reasoning, particularly since Sophie is unlikely to appreciate those excuses in 10 years when her blog is 50 percent of the size of Georgia's...but I digress.

Now we get back on track.

I'm going to post a lot of old photos in succession to get us up to date. Later, my plan is to go back and change the post dates, so that they reflect the actual chronology, making it much easier when I make this into a book for Sophie, as I did for Georgia after 3 years of Gorgeous Georgia. That's my plan, at least. And my deadline for being current? Thanksgiving Day. I'm just putting it all out here. It's called accountability, folks.

First Field Trip!

Today (and I do mean that, it happened today) was Georgia's very first field trip ever! After finishing up the "family" unit at school, Miss Jones has been teaching them all about the grocery store. Here is the in-classroom grocery store, complete with a very popular cashier spot.
So after a few weeks of talking produce (seriously) and bakery items, the class was ready to take the city bus (oh yeah, citified) to the big grocery store we've tried desperately to keep Georgia out of every time we have to shop there...

 Daddy was a chaperone. And photographer.

Just for your information, below and to Georgia's right is Von, the boy Georgia has told me is her "prince." His mom was there, too, which makes her a queen, but G did not make that connection.

First stop, Miss Pearl and the deli counter.

G told us at dinner that if she had to pick a job at the grocery, she wanted to be the fish seller.

 The checkout line was too long for them to wait, so they took the self-service route.

 She got to put her money in herself.

G and Chloe - according to Daddy, these two were the only two to have a "physical confrontation" inside the store. They seem to be key characters in each other's school stories, frequently including some serious fall from some piece of playground equipment. Georgia made a special card for Chloe last night before bed. It had to have "a princess, a queen, a table and a jewelry box."

 Georgia and Maddie enjoyed their fruit snacks on the bus back to school.
