Baby Freedom

At least once a day, it seems, Sophie ruins an outfit. Here she is, post-accident, enjoying the baby freedom. She's 5.5 months in this video and isn't quite rolling over much. My how things have changed on this side of 6 months!

More of Super Sophie

She's just so much fun. Really! You should come over sometime and see.
A good time to visit is when we have our famous family dance parties.

Sophie is really getting into the tradition.

G and the Swimming Class

Ok, full disclosure: this class ended like, a month ago (geez, who is running this blog?). But here are some photos lifted off of Abby's mom's blog because mommy just never made it to the class to take her own (Sophie's naptime, it coincides with many fun things). Here you can see Abby, G and another cute kiddo.

They learned to swim with noodles, blow bubbles under the water, and how to jump into the water and squeal with delight when their daddies threw them in the air (not much to learn on that last part, I think it's in the little girl DNA).

So cute, am I right?

Now we've moved onto dance class on Saturday mornings. I hope to have some photos soon. Here are the littler ones during swim class when Abby's mom brought Nate over for coffee (I don't mean that the way it sounds).

Baby Nate - a suitor for Sophie - we approve.

I mean, look at all that luxurious hair?!?

Sophie has some nice hair of her own...and a chubby-cheeked profile that is just to die for.

Self-explanatory

Sometimes, Sophie doesn't want to sleep! And she horns in on our "evening time." Sigh. At least she's fun to look at, while she's not napping.

This onesie didn't really fit Georgia either, but it does seem appropriate anyway.

You can't see it, but it reads "CARPE DIEM: Seize the day and then scream all night."

Sophie and Cece

I know, I know, it's been too long since my last post. I get it. Really. I'm told that some of you check the blog twice a day just to see if I've put something up and it's been days and days of disappointment. Sorry. We're busy. And Sophie's been not sleeping so great...until we took matters into our own hands last week and started the dreaded sleep training, but that's a story for another day. Now we catch up.

This is Sophie.

She seriously could not be cuter.

She smiles all the time.

And she's getting bigger. We have her 6 month appointment later this week, so we will actually know how much bigger...stay tuned.

Her eyes are definitely turning brown. And her dark hair seems to be here to stay. She's just so adorable, I think I may have to wake her up to see her again up close...ok, maybe not.

Cece is always trying to kiss Sophie on the lips. This is because she's completely delicious - independent of any outside influences, since we haven't even started her on solid foods yet. Just you wait, Cece, Sophie will taste even better soon.

They are about the same size...peas in a pod (or on a blanket, whatever).

Let's Talk about Georgia...

...because Sophie was a wakeful monster last night. Georgia sleeps through the night! Ah, how we love that about her. She's also way into princesses - did you know that?
Here she is enjoying blueberries while wearing the garb from an Olivia the Pig costume box. I bought her this costume box for absolutely no reason at all.

Wait a minute, I can come up with a reason. LilyJ's daddy made the Js move far, far away two weeks ago. So we had no standing playdate with Lily, Beck and their mama. So we went to Target. And we got on the elevator. And we ended up in the toy section. And I wound up telling Georgia she could pick only one toy for no reason at all (the clinical term for this is sublimating - stay tuned this summer for many, many other examples). G's a smart one. She picked the toy with six costume pieces inside.

That would be a crown, fairy wings, a chef's hat, an apron, a magic wand, and a chef's mixing bowl. Olivia the Pig is very well-rounded.

Sophie's Awakening

She usually smiles upon unswaddling (yes, she's still swaddled for sleeping - it's the only way she'll sleep longer than 20 minutes!).

She also then checks to make sure her toes are still there.

Hot Time, Not Yet Summer in the City

G and Sophie were happy to show Nana and Papa how much "fun" it can be outside in the extreme heat.

Here she is going on and on about dragons and princesses - heat-related delirium?

Sophie just loves the Georgia Show.

Later it was time to lounge with a good book or 12.

"Why are you bothering me?"

Easter in May! Cars on TV!

Nana and Papa had the great idea of recreating an egg hunt in the front yard during their visit. G thought it was fantastic. She keeps asking to look for the eggs whenever we are coming and going now.

Later, Papa taught her the wonders of Indycar racing on TV.
She thought it was particularly wonderful because she was also allowed to eat lunch in the living room.

A Few More with Nana and Papa

We had a great few days. It was incredibly hot outside most of the time, but we got to go to a new park for a picnic with LilyJ. We babysat for LilyJ and Beck. Georgia took Nana to swim class. She also showed off her new library and picked out a few good books. We also drove to a different neighborhood to try out a new restaurant. We all were happy with the choices.

Georgia particularly liked the black-and-white silent cartoons playing on the wall behind our booth. She kind of creeped out the people in the booth next to us, since she was staring over them with a blank look on her face for most of the meal.

This place totally knows how to deal with families. G's meal came out immediately and was so good we all were sneaking bites from her plate. They also have excellent adult food and milkshakes. G wasn't wild about the dessert she and I were supposed to share - the chef's interpretation of a pop-tart. So she licked it (nice), left it on the plate and proceeded to eat all the ice cream from Daddy and Papa's desserts.

Sophie continued to charm Papa.

Smiley Baby and Her Papa

During the visit, there was much speculation as to whether Sophie actually ever cries.

Admittedly, they weren't with her at 3am...when all she does is cry.

Nana brought a very fun dress-up doll game for G.

A great choice.
