Leftover from Daddy's Days Away

You want Easter photos, I know, I know. But first I have to document more of what we did during what I'm referring to as "The Dark Days" two weeks ago, when Daddy was on a 3-day business trip. We made the recipe from this month's High Five magazine (which we've read 3000 times so far). Granola. Not as hard as I'd ever imagined.

She was very excited to push it into the pan.

She had very little interest in eating it, however. This really should not be a surprise to me.

4 Months Old

Sophie is exactly 4 months old today, and in a stunning rejection of past procedure, we actually made it to her pediatrician for her 4 month appointment completely on time! Big results...drumroll...

Sophie weighs 15 lbs, 11 oz!!! She's in the 90th percentile for weight. She's also 24 and 5/8 inches (75th percentile).

She did not like the shots. Big news. But G held her hand while also crying (fake crying, irritating, I must admit).

She's also cooing in her bouncer as we speak...phew!

Sophie Laughter!

We took three videos to get to this one...we'll spare you the struggle!

When Daddy's Away...

Georgia and Sophie and Mommy will play...in the yard.

Always admiring the hard work of neighbor Claire and her boy Graham.

A Study of Two Donuts

The girls enjoyed PINK DONUTS at the park last week. PINK DONUTS are G's favorite.
LilyJ seems to like them, too.

Trying to get them both to look at the camera at the same time...sheesh.

Cece Takes the Island

The other night after both girls were in bed, Cece took to the island and made quite a fine little nest for herself. (This sort of behavior is not tolerated when G is awake)

Sophie Update

She's still smiley. She averages about one wake up at night right now...of course in publishing that fact I'm dooming myself to an hourly rendezvous this evening.

She's starting to use her hands to grab things.

Just now I think I saw her realize she has knees that she can feel when she pulls up her legs.

She's 3.5 months old and has no interest in rolling over whatsoever.

She is starting to love the sound of her own voice (so are we).

Her eyes are still a dark, dark blue.

Besides the bald patch that I've kissed off the back of her head, the dark hair seems to be sticking around.

G's Fairy Wand or Potty Training Update

We've been struggling a lot with the potty training. Last summer, at 2.5 years old, she was really into it all and seemed excited to be such a big girl. Then the broken leg derailed us. But we got back into it before the holidays. Then the new baby derailed us. A few weeks ago it seemed like I would forever be marking our lives in 45 minute increments, punctuated by questions about her bladder.

But then things changed. Maybe.

I told her that if she was dry for 5 whole days, she'd win a fairy wand. And so here you see her decorating that very wand.

We knew bribery was a key to the puzzle, we just didn't know how big the bribe needed to be.

Now we've got a "two weeks of dry days and you get a Tangled doll" thing going.

Her shirt's off for obvious reasons.

A Few Things About Sophie

She really really really likes to be held. Yesterday I had to make dinner while carrying her around the kitchen (not so easy as she's getting bigger by the second). Here she is agreeing to be held by daddy one evening after Georgia went to bed.

She also really likes it when Georgia pays attention to her...it's very cute. G's favorite thing to do is pinch Sophie's cheeks (we're assuming she learned this at school...). Sophie does not love that part.

She's wearing mostly 6 month clothes right now and cannot get enough bibs. She also likes to pull on her bibs and giggle to herself.

She was chatting up a storm before I pulled out the camera here...but you get the point, she's very charming and loves to smile.

Thumb Snack

Sophie found her thumb again.

She's also wearing her very first cute springy outfit. Turquoise may be her color.

CrazyPlaytimewithLilyJ

Last week we took advantage of LilyJ's membership to a play place (chaos house?). We were running a bit early and decided to start with cupcakes - interesting strategy.

Both girls were delighted with the results.

There was just so much to do - Georgia could hardly decide where to start, so she just hoarded the balls and rode on the halfmoon-thing.

A live view:

More hoarding. Seriously, I think this kid is itching for a fight.

First time on a trampoline!

Porch Picnic Movies

The first one opens with Georgia asking me what the name of our neighbor is. Her phrasing is interesting - she asks me what "Claire's boy's" name is. As in, she's asking what Claire's husband's name is.

This happened while we were playing a game where Georgia puts us all to sleep and then screams, "WAKE UP!" and then laughs and dances like a maniac. It's fun, you should try it.

Porch Picnic

The first of the season! Actually, that's not entirely true. Daddy set one up for G and Soph the night before when I was working late. His optimism about pulling it off all by himself is noteworthy.

Georgia tolerates the camera when I move the viewfinder around so she can admire herself.

She finds herself endlessly fascinating. Luckily, so do we.

She's eating steak. Which, by the way, is the thing she "ordered" from LilyJ's daddy at the park when they were playing restaurant.

Sophie went along for the bounce.
