Science Faired

Phew, glad this is over. It was not the easiest thing, corralling a 4-year-old on a holiday weekend. Here we are making the most of her copying skills. That's right, this project is going to look like a 4-year-old did it, even if it pains me terribly.

 She was very good about following daddy's outline.

 Final product! She received her "participant" certificate today. Mommy gets to see the projects tomorrow. can't wait for next year? Please, please hear the sarcasm in that.

Water Table Time!

Notice I'm not even calling it a "sand and water table" this year. That's because sand is not happening. Not near my living room, at least. If they must be soaking wet from water, that's better than soaking wet and sandy. The girls made the most of a steamy day this weekend.

Sophie Walks! Really, Really Walks!

And she did it for the first time at school...so we feel like horrible parents. But she walked and walked and walked today, as if she's been doing it for years. Miss Toccara was nice enough to email me the video this afternoon. We're calling it, she can walk at 17 months, go Sophie!

Realizing most of the recent photos have been of G, despite the name of this blog...here Sophie is learning how to ride a slide, though she prefers to climb up instead of sliding down.

Will it Float?

So it's science fair time at G's school. I will spare you my diatribe (if you are interested, I'm happy to rant about this offline), but suffice it to say, the school gave us a packet of info (same packet for all grades - PS3-4th grade) and a giant poster board and then sent us on our way. We have a deadline and absolutely no guidance beyond the packet of random papers. So we did what Hoosiers do when faced with uncertainty, we thought, "What would David Letterman do?"

Thus, WILL IT FLOAT became our science fair project. 

We worked on a chart of float v. no float.

We kept track of the results and will put it all on the posterboard...sometime.

To the Firehouse!

Georgia's class took yet another field trip last week and this time mommy had no more excuses was totally excited to go along! We walked in the heat and humidity to the firehouse, a place not known for its A/C either. Madelyn and Georgia were my buddies for the walk. They complained the entire time! No lie, except when they were asking me to tell them princess stories...

The firehouse tour was really good, actually. The whole point was for the kids to see that the firemen (there was one woman who came in as we were leaving) are really nice people, even when they put on their scary gear. They explained that if you see them in your bedroom when there's a fire, you shouldn't be afraid or hide under your bed, you should say hi and get out of the house. Makes a lot of sense.

Here we are again with dance class recital pictures. This was her second round this year, but we are taking the summer off, so these will be the last of G in the pink leotard for a while.

She was very happy we were in the room!

Goofballs at Brunch

Abigail's family had us over to brunch the other weekend, and she and Nate were very generous to share all their cool toys with G and Soph.

They played well together in the other room. We tried not to say it out loud, but this was kind of a dream come true.

Later, the girlies made a joke by putting underwear on their heads, pants on their arms and shirts on their legs.

They thought it was hysterical. It was.

Pleased with themselves.

Sophie got the joke, too.

 And the most kissable, just ask her!

Fleet Feet

In case you haven't heard, G is going to start a week of baseball camp right after school is out next month. She and Finn (the boy with the ice cream) will be at camp together. We needed to get a jump on finding all the necessary gear. Mommy is an ace at the online shopping. She was thrilled with her new red cleats.

She says they have magic in them that make her run extra fast.

Then last night, her baseball pants arrived from eBay. The box was torn open, but we are guessing the would-be thieves decided they didn't need any "Girls Baseball Pants Size S."

 Putting the cleats on is going to be a challenge. When she opened the box, she exclaimed, "My first tie shoes!" And they are. We can only imagine how much shoe-tying will be going on at this baseball camp.

 Now she needs a cap that fits and a glove (on the way).
