More from our series on getting up-to-date. We went to beach in September! Grandma and Grandpa were there! It was a lot of fun...

Georgia and daddy became fixated on making sandcastles.

We had beach picnics nearly every day (except on the days when we were all very very sick with the flu/pneumonia).

We had dinner at a Japanese steakhouse and took very few photos because Georgia was so scared of the whole experience, she spent most of the meal in our laps.

Birthday at the Beach

For Grandma's birthday this year, Georgia decided she wanted to get a cookie kit for them to use during our beach vacation. Sorry Grandma, I know that spending time in the kitchen isn't exactly a vacation. But you were a good sport.

Sophie observed from the living room.

While the cookies were baking, Georgia showed off her goofy side by putting on daddy's clothes.

She thought it was very funny. Ok, it was.

Later, time to decorate them!

Yes, G had pneumonia while this was going on. So, no, she didn't have to share her cookies with us.

On travel!

Socks are not for boarding airplanes. At least that's what Sophie thinks as we're about to leave for the beach! Truth be told, she has not much need for socks anytime, ever.

OVERHEARD: At Bedtime

Georgia: I don't want to live in this house!
Daddy: You don't want to live with us anymore?
Georgia: I don't want to live in this house anymore.
Daddy: Where do you want to live?
Georgia: I want to live in a pink house! [fake crying]

Ice Cream Fest

The weekend before school started, there was an ice cream tasting festival nearby. Georgia and mommy decided to check it out. G wore her hat.

Once she figured out the "tasting" concept, Georgia was totally on board.

We tried peanut butter buckeye, cherry gelato, chocolate chip, and a few others I can't remember...

I even convinced her to try the cone, which is total progress.

They had a balloon animal maker. We were lucky and got in line early. There were about 30 kids behind her here.

We also got in line for facepainting just as the painter cut off the line.

What is she?

A butterfly princess, of course.

She was super-patient. It was so hot, I was sure the paint would melt into her dress before we left.

Hmm, someone was pleased!

That's a purple balloon cat.

Bagel for the Baby

This was her very first bagel experience. It was more about texture than flavor at the time.

She thought it was funny that I kept trying to take her picture.

Our current food tally: all purees (Even ones with yogurt! Things change in three years, yogurt's kosher now, who knew?), puffs, avocado, mashed black beans (seriously mashed, she kind of choked the first time), pizza crust, bagel, banana in the mesh baggie.
