Life Lessons

Georgia and I were in the car listening to the Disney princess CD she prefers us to play at all times. It was the Mulan song - the one where she sings about how her dreams are different from those of her parents, and how she doesn't know who she is going to be. Granted, this is a fairly existential topic for a Disney song. Add to that the fact that we are deeply into the "WHY?!?" phase of toddlerhood and you get Georgia, howling from the backseat, "WHY SHE SINGING? WHAT SHE SINGING?"

So I tried to answer. I said that Mulan is worried that her parents will be disappointed because she doesn't want to get married and be the daughter they want her to be. Realizing how much of her worldview she's getting from Disney these days, I added a bit about how her mommy and daddy will always try to support her in whatever she does. Then I went on to include the nuance that even if we don't support a decision that she makes, we will always love her.

She paused for a moment and then said, "I WANT A PRESENT."

So much for a moment with my daughter.

Take G Out to the Ballgame

First game of the season! And our little Supergirl was sooooo excited.
Daddy even treated her to her own Zimmerman shirt.

She came home and gave me the play-by-play of the Presidents' race and then told me she hit the ball and ran after it on the field. A tall tale, but ambitious, no?

Then there were sweet potato fries. What? Complex carbohydrates, thank you very much. And what they say about toddlers evening out their own diets is true. She came home and ate asparagus and pork tenderloin for dinner. Really!

This seems to be the only way to ensure that G's ponytail stays put.

Georgia wasn't as scared by the crowds this year (I think her Disney princesses experience may have taught her something).

Who Does Sophie Look Like?

To quote Abigail's mom, Georgia is her daddy's mini-me. But who does Sophie look like? I know, you're thinking she looks like her mommy. But that's too easy. Check out these photos of her Grandma at 4 months.

Playseum with LilyJ

LilyJ's grandma also was in town last week, so we all went to the Playseum for a playdate. Yes, Georgia is dressed in her fairy outfit from Aunt Phyllis and glitter sparkle shoes from Grandma. There were no other options, despite the cold weather.

Again, Georgia is showing her play-style. LilyJ is interacting with the sandtools, Georgia is hoarding them and waiting for someone to challenge her.
