Bye bye Grandpa

Grandpa's no fool. He knew just how to come in for a quick trip, then leave before things got ugly around here. Georgia was not happy to see him go.

She only gave a half-hug, to show her underlying disapproval.

Lucky for us, we got to "keep" Grandma for another week. We have clean laundry, dishes, and lots of great meals because of it. Can we keep her longer, please?

Christmas Morning (not really)

This is the before shot - we will spare you the after shot, but just imagine chaos. And tissue paper.

Starting to understand this Santa thing.

Jasmine was a big hit.

This microphone makes you sound like you're in a cave. And if you're Georgia, it makes you sound like you're in a cave while shouting your own name again and again.

New wheels from Nana and Papa (or Santa?).

Um, yeah, their jammies are coordinated. Surprised? Get used to matching outfits, that's going to be a blog-theme.

Sophie and Daddy take a break from all the unwrapping.

Georgia realizes we're not paying attention to her anymore...

An expert at this.

Grandma made a full Christmas dinner! Georgia ate noodles.

Best part of the bike.

This is a happy, happy kid.

Meet the Grandpa!

Someone was very happy to meet Sophie on the 26th!

With her dark hair and coloring, she looks like the Greek baby we all have been expecting!

Some bonding time.

Home from the Hospital

Sophie arrived at 8:28am on Wednesday, Dec. 22. We took advantage of the extra time in the hospital due to my c-section (especially after G's initial visit, in which she pretty much ignored all requests that she "be gentle with mommy's tummy"). But by Dec. 26, we were excited to head home with our little stocking stuffer.

Here she is during her last nap in the hospital bed. A kissing zebra from Alison and Liora was her very first toy.

We dressed her in a santa suit for the ride home.

Daddy was happy we were on our way to being a real family of four.

Mommy was happy to get back to her own bed (but definitely missed the adjustable hospital bed over the next few days.

So we put her in a bonnet that we thought was the same one G came home in, a family heirloom. After getting home and checking the blog (thank God for the blog) we realized we were wrong. We don't actually know where this bonnet came from, but now it's a new family heirloom for Sophie!

Car ride home!

About Grandma (and some more of Sophie)

We really could not have done this without Grandma, who proved herself an unbelievable babysitter/dogsitter/chef/cleaner/laundry service AND she brought a Christmas tree and other decorations. In other words, she's all-inclusively wonderful. And G loves her, too.

Sophie having a bottle at the hospital.

Wondering if I'm going to take her picture every time?

Using a pacifier. G never took to the pacifier, so we're kind of new at this. But it really seems to be working.

More Up Closeness

She's not quite used to our family routine of constant paparazzi-like photo harassment.

Even while she sleeps, she is recorded for posterity.

She does seem happiest in this position.

Hiccup Roundup

So Sophie has followed in big sister G's footsteps, treating me to hiccups both in and outside of the womb. Here are two versions - one in the hospital, the other at home a week later. She already looks like she's growing up, no?

And for comparison, here's G with hiccups in the hospital in 2008.
