Finally...Something New

We have had the same furniture on our front porch for 12 years. 12 YEARS. And they have been on our porch YEAR ROUND. And they have become home to many a squirrel and the neighborhood cat. A few weeks ago we got a bee in our collective bonnet about having something we all could enjoy (as in, I would not allow my children to sit on the squirrel/cat furniture, ever). Sophie and G were just up from nap time when a giant box arrived.
Sophie was thrilled that the footstool was just perfect for her current stature.
G was happy, too.
The table makes a nice little drum.

Ahh, the good life!

Georgia decided it was time to chill out with Sophie.

From Ms Toccara

"Sophie is really eager to walk, she just keeps going after the push toy. We had a one to one talk about being rough with her friends. Today she did some painting with the color brown to create a beehive."

All About Sophie

Today, Sophie took her very first step! She has been standing up on her own for a few days - making herself so happy she claps, and then falls over. But today during music class, she definitely took a step. We think Georgia also took her first steps at music class, so we're right on schedule at 16 months!
Sophie is a very happy kid. She loves to give big bear hugs and giggles whenever you play peekaboo - it's a sure fire way to get her to let you dry her hair with a towel. Just pretend you can't find her and she laughs through the trouble of having her hair patted.

Her latest nicknames include: Sophie Dophie, Sophie Bear, Soph-a-Doph, Bumblemouse, Solo and So-So.

She now can say Mama, Dor-duh, and a very clear DADA. She loves crackers and any kind of fruit you will give her. She uses her 5.5 teeth to enjoy these foods. She will only eat eggs when Daddy's selling them. Her favorite books include the one with the animal sounds, the one with the fuzzy animal fur, and the one with all the babies being kissed by their parents.

Her hair is in her eyes all the time, not because I'm a cruel mom, but because she refuses to keep a hairband in place. She thinks it's so funny to pull it out and then take great effort to give it back to me. She laughs like a hyena. When you ask her for a kiss, she leans in and smiles at you until you put your cheek on her cheek. She is so so so wonderful.

Bailee's Birthday Bash

Two weeks ago we got to join G's school friend, Bailee, and lots of their pals for a birthday party at a playseum. Georgia went to the dress up clothes (immediately).

There was an enormous dollhouse in the same room with the wedding gown. Probably G's favorite room of all time.
Later, she played judge.
Then she played criminal.
Then she painted a figurine - first time for everything, it came out a nice shade of brown after all was said and done.
There was also a cowgirl outfit.
And facepainting!

Day Out

The other weekend, Sophie woke up EARLY, so her whole day of napping was slightly off. This made room for her to come with us to G's dance class. We waited patiently in the hallway [no photos allowed :( ] and Sophie started working on her one-handed strolling with Daddy.
After class we went out for Georgia's choice of lunch, "chicken and rice." The translation was Lebanese food. Sophie enjoyed some yogurt.
