Sophie Parties at Nana and Papa's

She has discovered the back of the couch. It's her new favorite place to hang out. Not mom's favorite, since she needs a spotter, but this will change.

Sophie loves loves loves to hang upside down.
It's her favorite way to look at the world.

Let's Talk About 5:38am

5:38am.

For most of us, this time means nothing. Most of us consider 5:38am still "the middle of the night." Most of us sleep right through it.

Not Sophie.

For the last three months, Sophie has been waking me up when my clock says 5:38am. This happens at home, this happened away for the holidays. 5:38am is her time. Yes, she showed me 3:45am and 12:50am a few times in the last three months, but most often, she calls out for me at 5:38am.

I really wish she would just stop. Hey Sophie, ever heard of 6:02am? 6:15am? A little spontaneity?
For those paying attention, we also had Sophie's 1 year doctor's appointment on Monday. Kiddo withstood an outrageously long wait time to get into the office, then four shots. She only melted down a little and then sacked out in the car for over an hour. Here are her stats:

Weight: 21lbs 20oz (25-50th percentile)
Length: 30 1/8 inches long (75th percentile)
Head: 18 1/2 inches (90th percentile - she needs the larger head to hold up all that hair)

Baby Camp Update: Miss Toccara Reports on Sophie

From this week's reports:

"Sophie had one of her great days. She was playing in the block area and knocking things off the shelf. Then she wandered over to the climber where she was trying to climb high, but never made it to the top. During music time, Sophie showed off her dance moves."

"Sophie was in the best mood today - so good she took no morning or P.M. nap. She was on me the whole afternoon nap time, just cuddling."

"I am so proud of Sophie drinking out of her sippie cup! She is doing so good."

This morning Sophie was showing off her new outfit [Tinkerbell, complete with tutu skirt]. All her friends and caregivers really like her outfit."

"This morning we went out for a buggie ride and Sophie sucked up all the nice weather."

Christmas 2011: Christmas Morning

Here's how I justified not decorating our house for Christmas - if we did that, Santa wouldn't know to bring G's toys to Nana and Papa's, and Grandma and Grandpa's! Plus, mommy just didn't have it in her this year. Sophie's getting us up at 4am now, in case you hadn't heard. Georgia was happy to get some awesome legos from Aunt Kelley and Uncle Chris (daddy was happy with this development, too).

G picked out her Christmas morning outfit all by herself (thanks LilyJ!).

Waiting waiting waiting at the bottom of the stairs...
G made due, playing with Sophie's toys until we would let her go check out Santa's gifts.

Finally, it was time.

Anyone who has ever had the misfortune to step on a lego is cringing at this one, right?

Christmas 2011: The Main Event

Surprisingly, G was willing to nap after stocking time and only later did we move onto the big presents upstairs.
Um, she was happy with the results.
Tissue paper!
"Hizzah!"

Evan was all Captain America. His uncle (G's daddy) was happy to help him figure it out.
Georgia got an awesome chef's costume!

Sophie made some calls.
Zingo, our new "absolute favorite play with me all the time game."

Sophie wasn't quite sure how to play, but she gave it an effort. Georgia actually said, "Stop it, my baby, you are messing it all up."

Christmas 2011, Getting Started: Stockings

Sophie was not sure quite what was happening...

But it did come with tissue paper, so you know she was happy!
Georgia was all business.
So were Evan and Avery.

It was SO hard to get anyone to smile at the camera!

Traveling Lovelies

Editor's note: I know these are all out of sequence - I will fix that later.

This is Georgia. Georgia had about two weeks of very "bad days" at school prior to the holiday. She was not happy to be there and seemed just about to burst when we finally made our way to Indiana for Christmas. Here she is, in fact, about to actually burst, in that very soon after this photo was taken, she threw up all over Celeste (washable!). Leaving home at 4am to travel has its advantages. We arrived near Nana and Papa's by early afternoon and made our way directly to the immediate care facility (thanks, iPhone). She had an ear infection. Amazing Grandma and Grandpa even met us at the doctor's office to take Cece off our hands - they get an A++ for effort.
Sophie was a good kiddo on the ride - but surprise, she also was harboring two ear infections.
Do you want to kiss those cheeks as much as I do? Yes, you do.
