Spotlight on Sophie

We thought it was time to actually write down the story of Sophia's name. No, we didn't look at the list of most popular names in 2009, and bet that Sophia would be #1 in 2010 - that was just a fun coincidence!

Back in June, just as we were starting to talk about the new baby, Georgia was talking to Daddy about "Sophie Sophie Sophie." We'd both heard her talking about Sophie before, but didn't know who she was because, surprisingly enough, there were no Sophies in her classes at school, church or music class.

So Daddy asks her, "Georgia, who is Sophie?"
Georgia replied, "Sophie's in Mommy's tummy and she's coming."

Later, she was watching a Sesame Street Christmas program (in the summertime, but no one's keeping score), pointed to the muppet playing the baby Jesus and said, "There's Sophie!"
So Daddy asked her, "Who is Sophie?"
Georgia replied, "Sophie's my sister and she's coming at Christmas!"

Yes, she later named the baby "Coaster." And she was upset when we confirmed that the baby was a girl ("NO! I want a bruhduh!"). But initially, Georgia knew she was getting a Sophie at Christmas.

We're glad she was right.

Presentpalooza

Georgia got a lot of presents last week. They are still rolling in. I think this is definitely contributing to her positive attitude in the last 48 hours or so. Though I know it's short-lived and dangerously contrived, I am enjoying the lessening of whining in our house. Here she is before opening excellent gifts from Nana and Papa.

ARGHHHH I am HATING the new blogger issues! I can't move the videos into the right places. Apologies. Here are some photos of Georgia and LilyJ the day after the hair-assault. Maybe that's why LilyJ is wearing her hat inside?

Georgia thought she looked so cute, she put hers on as well. We will need LilyJ to report to our house every morning before school until the weather warms up.

LilyJ got a kick out of watching herself on our video camera. Since G won't have anything to do with me and the camera anymore, I will take interest where I can get it!

Birthday Party Crazytown!

So for a little history, Georgia's first birthday party was canceled due to her illness. Her second birthday party took place during a blizzard. This year we expected some kind of fire or tornado, and were shocked when everything went so well. We had 29 human beings in 600 sq ft of house. And half of them were toddlers and associated younger siblings. And the "theme" was decorate your own cupcake, so you can imagine the pandemonium! It was simply fantastic.

As each family arrived, Georgia opened the door and squealed, "It's my BIRTHDAY!!!"

Many thanks to all who braved the tiny locale and brought their happy, happy kiddos.

If you look around you will see LilyJ, LilyS, Mr. Finn, Miss Elia, Abigail, Flo, and Lucy! Ice cream cone cupcakes (thanks for the great idea Grandma!) went over well.



A quick story about how incredibly polite Miss Elia is. See her looking longingly at those gummy bears? She asked Lucy's mom if she could have one. She ASKED. Georgia had one hand in the M&Ms and the other in the gummy bears, there was no asking.

Despite the violent ends of their most recent playdate at our house, LilyJ returned, fearless and adorable.

Elia's mom broke the no presents rule and got her this ballerina bathing suit. She wore it over her outfit for the rest of the day...and we went to a birthday party for one of Daddy's friends later that night. And she wore a bathing suit. Yessir.

How could I say no?

Happy 3rd Birthday Georgia!

Today is Georgia's 3rd birthday. We celebrated with skyping with family members and a playdate with LilyJ. Grandma and Grandpa's birthday card could be opened up into a crown (with mouse ears, natch).

G was pleased with her countenance.

It has been an interesting three years, to say the least (um, see gorgeousgeorgia.blogspot.com if you don't believe me). I am so relieved to be DONE with the terrible twos! That all changes, as of today, right? And the fact that she tried to rip half of LilyJ's hair off her head this morning WHILE BEARING HER TEETH, that was just a last hurrah of terribleness, right? It's smooth sailing from now up until 13, right?

And keeping with the theme of G taking her favorite toys over to the potty...she brought Sophie this time.

Elia Joins G's Clubhouse

Elia and her mom, plus baby Ami, came over last week and brought us tons of food (we love that kind of visit). G invited Elia into her clubhouse. There were no secret handshakes, but lots of fun.



G has stopped smiling for the camera, but Elia is a pro.

Sophiebear (yeah, that's happening)

At six weeks, Sophie's about as cute as she can be right now. She loves to eat, and her double chin is great evidence of that. And she loves to wave her hands around like some kind of wizard, too.

Sometimes she even opens her eyes.

She loves this bouncer, so much more than G ever really did. We are thankful for it, but sometimes wish it was battery operated.
